Job Description

Job Summary Under general direction of the District Attorney or his/her designee, performs a wide range of legal secretarial and administrative duties in the District Attorney's Office. Incumbents provide more in-depth technical assistance and administrative support in the preparation of documents and records management and provides assistance to county staff and public. Distinguishing Characteristics This position provides and performs increasingly difficult or complex legal secretarial duties of the office. This is an advanced level position withing the District Attorney's office. This position uses a high degree of legal and independent judgement and authority, confidentiality, efficacy, and latitude in interpreting and applying broad policies and regulations. This is a non-supervisory classification; however, the incumbent may be required to assist and lead legal assistant staff in the fulfillment of department duties. Licensing, Education, & Other Requirements 1. Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge and ability is: High school diploma or equivalent education; and Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in legal studies, criminal justice, or a closely related field; and At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in a governmental agency and/or law office performing administrative support work related to civil and/or criminal law; or A combination of relevant education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered. 2. Completion of recognized legal courses or a paralegal training program may be preferred. 3. Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada Class C Driver License. 4. Must successfully pass a criminal background investigation. 5. Military experience applicable to the duties of the position may be preferred.
