Job Description

Job Description Summary:
Enhances attorney effectiveness by independently handling aspects of discharge planning and mental hygiene litigation with minimal supervision. Requires a paralegal certificate or degree in paralegal studies and 5 or more years of litigation experience.
Reporting Responsibility:
Reports to Partner and Paralegal Manager.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Prepare, serve and file court papers for discharge planning and mental hygiene litigation Coordinate filings with process server Communicate extensively with clients Prepare Firm audit response letters Draft correspondence and assist with calendaring Handle electronic filing and service of legal documents for New Jersey, New York and Connecticut state courts, All Federal Courts, Surrogate's Court and Bankruptcy Court Conduct Legal Research and gather relevant information from a variety of sources Assist in organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices Cite check and shepardize briefs Assist in bate stamping of documents, hyperlinking and bookmarking Willing to cross train in other areas of law Assume additional responsibilities as required to meet needs of
Firm Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work 9:30 am to 5:30 pm; must be available for overtime Ability to effectively multi-task and work independently Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines Ability to handle confidential and highly sensitive information Knowledge of legal research methods Good typing skills, thorough and accurate Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook Familiarity with Elite 3E Workplace Time Entry timekeeping program or similar program Familiarity with NetDocuments document management system or similar system Well-developed interpersonal and client relation skills Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Exceptional time management skills Excellent organizational skills Excellent attention to detail
Education and Experience:
