$100,000 per year Job Overview We are an elite, high-volume plastic surgery practice with a significant presence in Manhattan and Long Island. We are seeking a sophisticated and tech-forward Senior Legal Brief Writer to lead our arbitration department. The primary focus of this position is the drafting of persuasive, evidence-based legal briefs for submission to independent arbitration. These briefs are critical in resolving reimbursement rates for complex surgical procedures. We are looking for a legal professional who possesses a deep familiarity with the medical field—specifically surgical and plastic surgery terminology—and who is highly proficient in leveraging AI tools (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and similar) to synthesize medical records and refine complex legal arguments.
Key Responsibilities Arbitration Brief Writing:
Lead the end-to-end drafting of high-stakes legal briefs for submission to independent arbitration to resolve reimbursement disputes for surgical cases.
Surgical Narrative Development:
Analyze complex operative reports to build a compelling narrative regarding the difficulty, necessity, and value of specific plastic surgery procedures.
AI-Enhanced Workflow:
Expertly utilize AI tools (ChatGPT/Gemini) to synthesize vast amounts of medical data, outline arguments, and optimize the efficiency of the brief-writing process.
Evidence Synthesis:
Coordinate with surgeons and clinical staff to gather the technical medical data required to support high-level arbitration claims.
Strategic Research:
Stay current on medical litigation trends and arbitration outcomes to refine and improve the practice's "winning" brief templates.
Meticulous Documentation:
Ensure all arbitration filings are accurate, meet strict statutory deadlines, and adhere to the highest professional standards.
Required Qualifications Expert Brief Writing:
Extensive, proven experience in legal brief writing or demand drafting. Background in Personal Injury or Medical Malpractice litigation is highly preferred.
Medical/Surgical Literacy:
A strong command of medical terminology, with specific familiarity in surgical procedures (Plastic Surgery experience is a significant plus).
AI Proficiency:
Advanced ability to use AI tools (ChatGPT, Google Gemini) for research, data synthesis, and drafting.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree required. A Paralegal Certificate or Juris Doctor (JD) is highly preferred.
Analytical Precision:
Exceptional ability to transform technical surgical data into persuasive, professional legal arguments.
Position Details Location:
Candidates may choose to work out of our Manhattan or Port Jefferson offices.
Schedule:
Full-Time.
Compensation:
$100,000 starting base salary with a path for performance-based growth.
