Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a busy legal team in Syracuse, NY. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can manage administrative priorities, maintain accuracy in legal documentation, and keep deadlines on track in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle court-related filings and scheduling with professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, format, and revise legal correspondence, pleadings, and other case-related documents with a high level of accuracy.
- Submit court documents through electronic filing systems and confirm that all filings meet required deadlines and procedural standards.
- Maintain attorney calendars by coordinating hearings, meetings, deadlines, and other time-sensitive commitments.
- Transcribe and draft documents from dictated notes while ensuring clarity, consistency, and proper legal formatting.
- Organize and manage case files, records, and supporting materials so information is easy to access and up to date.
- Communicate with courts, clients, and internal team members regarding scheduling, documentation, and case status updates.
- Monitor incoming requests and prioritize administrative tasks to support attorneys efficiently throughout active matters. Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support position.
- Hands-on experience with electronic court filing processes and related documentation requirements.
- Ability to manage calendars and coordinate multiple deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in preparing legal documents and handling dictated material accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in an office setting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
