When clients pass away, we are there to help surviving spouses and families transition their legacy with compassion, competence, and kindness. This position requires the quiet confidence and professionalism necessary to handle sensitive, confidential matters involving affluent clients and complex assets, along with the warmth and compassion essential to supporting clients during an emotional and often difficult time in their lives. You will interact with and build relationships with clients, their family members, CPAs, financial advisors, and other professionals in person, via email, and through telephone and video communications. While strong technical and organizational skills are essential, we believe the personality and character of the person in this role are equally important. Compensation:
$65,000 - $75,000 yearly
Responsibilities:
Work with settlement counsel to administer trust estates efficiently, accurately, and compassionately from beginning to end. Communicate directly with Trustees, family members, CPAs, financial advisors, and other professionals throughout the administration process. Review estate planning documents, inventory assets, and assess date-of-death values. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the deceased's assets, estate structure, and distribution plan. Gather information and prepare asset schedules, spreadsheets, and related trust administration documentation. Confirm beneficiary designations, obtain tax identification numbers, and coordinate estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041). Draft legal documents, correspondence, and other trust administration materials. Ensure trust assets are properly distributed to beneficiaries and final accountings are completed and filed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field with at least 2 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, or a related field OR At least 5 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, or a related field. A basic familiarity with the Oregon and federal estate tax system and Oregon Uniform Trust Code. Proven aptitude with Clio or other legal software, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Excellent communication and grammar skills. Highly organized with superior attention to detail. Keyboard speed of at least 50 WPM.
