Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal team. This vital role offers the opportunity to support a wide range of legal practices, including estate planning and probate, family law, criminal law, and more. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and possess a strong foundation in legal research, rules of procedure, drafting of pleadings and other documents, case management (including communication with clients) and case preparation. As a Paralegal, you will play an essential role in streamlining case workflows, managing legal documents, and providing administrative support to attorneys across diverse practice areas. This paid position provides an engaging environment where your skills will directly contribute to delivering exceptional legal services. Duties Conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case development and strategy. Assist with drafting and proofreading legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence with precision and clarity. Understanding of the rules of civil and criminal procedure. Manage case files using document management systems to ensure accurate organization and easy retrieval of information. Perform document review and data entry tasks related to litigation, estate planning and probate, family, and criminal practice areas. Support attorneys with client interviews by preparing questions and summarizing interview notes for case analysis. Maintain meticulous records of legal proceedings, filings, and correspondence while ensuring compliance with court deadlines. Provide administrative support including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, handling phone and office etiquette professionally, and assisting with project management tasks. Requirements Proven paralegal experience with familiarity across multiple practice areas such as estate planning, family law (divorce, custody, support, dependency and delinquency), and criminal law. Strong research skills utilizing LexisNexis to gather relevant case law and legal precedents. Proficiency in Word, Excel and experience with document review systems is highly desirable. Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Experience with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing systems (both electronic and paper), transcription, and clerical support within a busy law office environment. Strong interpersonal skills including talking to emotional or difficult clients with professional etiquette. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team committed to delivering high-quality legal services.
