Job Description

Objective:
The Legal Assistant provides high-level administrative and litigation support to a team of attorneys and paralegals in a fast-paced employment litigation practice. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strict compliance with California and federal court rules. The Legal Assistant supports case progression, ensures accurate and timely filings, maintains case organization, and assists with internal administrative systems that support the litigation team.
Location:
Hybrid - work in NFC's San Diego Office a minimum of two (2) days in-office days per week, during onboarding and training there will be a three (3) day in-office per week requirement. Must be flexible and willing to work in person for additional days as needed for coverage and/or other business needs.

Non-Exempt Core Responsibilities:
Court Filings & Deadline Management Finalize and electronically file documents in California state and, federal courts in compliance with applicable rules. Review court and local rules and procedures to ensure proper formatting, service, and submission of filings. Monitor court dockets and circulate updates to the assigned attorney and paralegal team. Calculate, calendar and track court deadlines, hearings, trials, depositions, and other litigation events. Obtain and distribute filed-endorsed copies and docket sheets as needed. Litigation Support Draft shells for, format, revise, and proofread pleadings, motions (including table of contents/table of authorities), discovery, correspondence, and court forms. Prepare exhibits, including labeling, bookmarking, and tabbing in accordance with court or attorney requirements. Coordinate service of documents and prepare transmittal letters and shipping labels. Assist with document redactions and preparation for filing or production, including formatting, organizing exhibits, copying, scanning, and coordinating mailing. Issue and follow up on third-party records requests (e.g., medical, employment, or subpoenaed records). Case & Document Management Create and maintain electronic case folders within the firm's document management system. Scan, save, and organize case documents in accordance with firm naming conventions and protocols. Maintain updated case contact lists. Maintain and update internal litigation charts, templates, and reference lists (e.g., mediator lists, master lists). Manage hard-copy file organization when necessary, including file transfers and third-party records. Scheduling & Coordination Schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and client meetings. Coordinate conference room logistics for team meetings. Maintain attorney and paralegal calendars to ensure accurate tracking of litigation events. Administrative & Firm Support Assist attorneys newly admitted or joining the firm with updating court e-filing profiles, contact information, and required firm details. Maintain internal tracking of attorney court admissions and related login information. Support paralegals with administrative assignments that directly support litigation/counseling matters. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a litigation environment (California experience required). Working knowledge of California and federal court procedures. Strong proofreading and grammar skills. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with minimal supervision. Professional communication skills (written and verbal), and positive and team-oriented attitude. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience working with NetDocuments a plus.
Salary Range:
$85-95K The Firm is providing this good-faith salary range to comply with applicable law. The applicant's final salary will depend on a number of factors, including the applicant's skills and years of experience.
Performance and Hours-Based Bonuses :
This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary performance-based bonus (percentage of salary).

Pay:
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
