The Legal Assistant role provides comprehensive support to timekeeping roles within the Firm including Partners, Associates, and Paralegals. This role involves performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to ensure the efficiency of legal processes as well as provide exceptional client service. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work. The role is full time Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm. This role is based out of our Detroit, Michigan office.
What You'll Do:
As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will provide proactive administrative and client support to attorneys and legal professionals, helping ensure the efficient management of legal matters through strong organization, attention to detail, and collaboration. Prepare, format, proofread, and manage a variety of legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and client materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm standards. Maintain electronic client and matter files, including document management, records organization, matter opening, and file conversions. Coordinate court filings, docket management, and interactions with federal, state, and local courts and agencies while tracking deadlines and case-related commitments. Manage attorney calendars, travel arrangements, meetings, expenses, and project timelines to support efficient practice operations. Review and process time entries, billing information, and client billing memos, ensuring accuracy and adherence to firm billing procedures. Provide exceptional administrative support by handling client communications, coordinating with internal teams and vendors, delegating tasks as appropriate, and serving as backup support to ensure seamless coverage. The areas of law served will include: appellate, automotive, probate and other areas as needed. The physical demands of this position are representative of those that must be met by an employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday, having the ability to transport 25 pounds and being able to operate a computer and other business equipment found in the office. About You Experience, Education, and Training:
3+ years of equivalent training and experience Experience with litigation procedures and e-filing requirements in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County courts strongly preferred Experience supporting multiple attorneys/timekeepers in a fast-paced legal environment require High School Diploma or equivalent required Associate or bachelor's degree preferred Advanced proficiency in computer software and applications, including Microsoft Suites What sets Warner Apart At Warner Norcross + Judd, we know that talented professionals have choices.
