Litigation Paralegal (Mass Tort) Hire Counsel - 3.8 Kansas City, MO Job Details Contract $38 - $60 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Teamwork Law Doctor of Law (JD) Attention to detail Legal case management Full Job Description Our client is seeking an experienced Litigation Docketing & Calendar Specialist to support a high-volume asbestos and toxic tort litigation practice. This role requires strong litigation judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to interpret court filings to ensure deadlines and litigation events are accurately tracked across multiple active matters. Working closely with attorneys and litigation support teams, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the firm's docketing and calendaring systems while helping ensure compliance with court deadlines and litigation schedules. This is an excellent opportunity for a litigation professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment supporting sophisticated, high-volume litigation.

Initial 3-6 month assignment with the potential for extension based on business needs.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday | 40 hours per week | Between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Responsibilities Review and analyze incoming litigation filings, including pleadings, court orders, hearing notices, deposition notices, and trial-setting orders. Interpret court filings and apply litigation knowledge to identify applicable deadlines and required calendar events. Partner with attorneys and litigation support teams to ensure accurate docketing and case management. Direct calendaring staff regarding required updates and provide supporting information for accurate database entries. Perform quality control reviews of docketed events to ensure accuracy and completeness. Verify that modified, rescheduled, or canceled litigation events are properly updated within the firm's calendaring system. Review daily docket reports and communicate significant updates to litigation teams. Identify and escalate urgent or time-sensitive litigation events, including trial preference motions, PMK/Rule 30(b)(6) representative deposition notices, expedited hearings, and other critical deadlines. Support multiple active litigation matters while effectively prioritizing competing deadlines. Maintain accurate litigation records and assist with ongoing case management initiatives. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) preferred, or equivalent litigation paralegal experience. Minimum 1-2 years of asbestos litigation experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting toxic tort, product liability, insurance defense, or other high-volume litigation practices will also be considered. Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and court deadlines. Ability to independently interpret litigation filings and recognize procedural implications. Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with attorneys and litigation support professionals. Experience working with litigation docketing, calendaring, or case management software is preferred.
