Job Description

Looking for a Mid-Senior level paralegal with experience in insurance defense, civil litigation, and trial preparation. Must have a minimum of 3 years verifiable, RELEVANT experience. Must have demonstrated ability to prepare accurate Med Chrons and page lines. This is a trial defense firm. Under limited supervision, the paralegal should have the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks assisting several members of the team in this fast-paced practice located in Pleasanton, CA. Opportunity to work a hybrid 3/2 remote after probationary period, depending on team assignment and trial needs. Salary commensurate with experience.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must be able to prepare medical chronologies and page line reports;
  • Draft routine legal documents;
  • Manage multiple cases from inception through trial;
  • Subpoena documents from various sources;
  • Collect, organize, analyze and summarize records;
  • Review and analyze medical billing/Howell analysis;
  • Assist with preparation of deposition exhibits;
  • Coordinate expert witnesses from retention through expert discovery, including gathering and providing material relative to the expert's designated area, drafting disclosures, prepare and produce expert files;
  • Assist with trial preparation including pretrial documents (deposition designations, exhibit and witness lists, organize and mark exhibits, preparation of trial binders);
  • Must be willing to work in office during Trial prep;
  • May be asked to assist at trial and know what is due for trial;
  • Be proactive;
  • Perform Lexis/internet and other document researches.
CRITICAL/MUST HAVE SKILLS
  • Must be able to prepare medical chronologies;
  • Experience in all phases of the litigation process;
  • Ability to effectively set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects for several attorneys;
  • Experience preparing for trials and/or arbitration/mediation;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Adaptable to changing priorities & flexible;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of firm personnel, clients, witnesses, opposing counsel/co-counsel and vendors;
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, create solutions, and communicate with your team.
