Paralegal

Role Overview:

The primary purpose of the job is to provide professional legal support services within the Legal Affairs department.

Responsibilities:

Provides support to counsel within the department on general and specific legal and governance matters and matters related to corporate insurance programs. Assist in the formation and maintenance of legal entities/companies within AmeriHealth Caritas. Prepare licensing and regulatory filings for regulated companies within AmeriHealth Caritas and maintaining associated licenses - including applications and renewals for HMO/insurance licenses, TPA licenses, URE licenses, PBM licenses, pharmacy provider licenses, as well as government program (Medicaid/Medicare) enrollment applications for PerformSpecialty; and Insurance Holding Company filings and amendments for HMOs. Involves researching State-specific licensure statutes and regulations; working across departments to gather information, and preparing and compiling application and re-application/renewal materials; submitting materials to appropriate licensing authority; establishing and maintaining contact with licensing authority to track progress. Conduct accurate and timely issue-specific research, including assisting with member fair hearing procedures, and provide results to the assigning attorney or other appropriate recipient within AmeriHealth Caritas. Answers moderately complex questions concerning the Legal Affairs department, and refers to appropriate resources for information clarification as needed. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned by attorneys.

Education/Experiences:

Associate's Degree (paralegal or related studies) OR Paralegal Certificate required. Healthcare or Medical Management experience preferred but, not required. 5 to 7 years experience preferred. Proven legal research experience preferred. Strong attention to detail; strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Legal Tracker and LexisNexis. Notary Public commission preferred but not required.
