An experienced Paralegal to join our Professional Credentialing Processing Legal Team in the Office of Chief Legal Counsel.
Where We Are Located:
After an initial training period, this position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary This Paralegal-Advanced position is responsible for providing support to the Division of Professional Credential Processing Legal Team, by coordinating the legal review process for all credential applications handled by the team, maintaining and utilizing the case management and reporting tools, training and mentoring team support staff, and providing the most complex legal assistance to attorneys. This position requires the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and have a high level of skill and ability with attention to detail. Complex legal assistance will include analyzing and summarizing the most complex conviction, discipline, medical condition, malpractice, and/or termination documentation of application files, drafting a variety of complex legal documents (including application denials, letters of intent to deny, limited license orders, pleadings, requests for additional information, etc.), researching complex legal and factual issues involving credentialing matters, managing the team docketing calendar and making appropriate arrangements for hearings, and communicating with applicants regarding application status and inquiries regarding legal review of complex applications. Salary Information This position is in schedule-range (07-03) with an annual salary of $ 62,400-$79,040 , plus excellent benefits . A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. Qualifications Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following: Significant experience with and expertise using Outlook, Adobe Pro, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint or similar. Experience may include activities such as creating and using pivot tables; creating, modifying, and formatting charts; performing multiple level filter/ sorting within a spreadsheet; or setting appropriate permissions for documents. Experience working as a Paralegal performing activities such as: researching legal issues, drafting legal documents, organization and analysis of case files and exhibits, calendaring and docketing, etc. Experience supporting multiple attorneys. In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following: Experience with Wisconsin State Statutes and Administrative Code, criminal law, licensing law, or litigation. Experience maintaining and using case management and reporting tools (such as SharePoint Lists or comparable application or software platforms) Paralegal certification or related degree (related degrees would include, but is not limited to, business, writing, English, library research).
