Paralegal - Civil Litigation Job Description The firm seeks a full-time litigation paralegal to join the civil team. Responsibilities include analyzing medical files and discovery requests, instrumental investigations into matters impacting defense of cases, assisting with responding to discovery, and assisting with deposition, hearing, and trial preparations. Hybrid work environment.
Core duties and responsibilities:
Interviewing witnesses and documenting what is learned Summarizing medical records Rule 414 medical calculations Conducting social media research Performing records or legal research Summarizing legal documents, depositions or hearings Preparing correspondence Drafting legal documents Assisting lawyers with preparing for depositions, hearings, meetings, trials Recording time for client billing
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Outlook and internet research Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and/or Kofax PDF Exceptional proofreading, written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy Must be detail-oriented and team-oriented Qualifications Required - paralegal certificate or two years' experience working as a paralegal or legal assistant in a litigation practice. Preferred - bachelor's degree or work equivalent. Adobe and electronic document management with a prospective focus on construction-related disputes.
