Paralegal
Santa Fe, NM New Mexico Legal Aid (NMLA) provides civil legal services to low-ie New Mexicans to promote family and economic stability, helping clients access food, shelter, security, and to preserve their unique cultural heritages. NMLA has locations throughout the state, including Santa Ana Pueblo, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, Gallup, Roswell, Silver City, and Taos. The Paralegal will provide litigation and administrative support to attorneys serving low-ie clients across a range of civil legal matters. This role supports work in areas such as housing, domestic violence, consumer protection, family law, public benefits, and other areas of law based onmunity need and program priorities. The Paralegal plays a key role in supporting client services by assisting with case development, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure cases move forward efficiently. This position involves regular client interaction and requires stronganizational skills, attention to detail, and amitment to client-centered service. This position is located in our Santa Fe office and reports to the Northern Managing Attorney and will work closely with the Litigation Director. The Paralegal will provide services through abination of client support, case coordination, and administrative assistance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conduct client intakes and assist with gathering relevant case information.
Provide general support to attorneys in preparation for hearings and court proceedings.
Draft legal documents, correspondence, and other written materials.
Maintain andanize case files, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
Track deadlines, court dates, and case activities using case management systems.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, including those in crisis or under stress.
Coordinate referrals tomunity resources and partneranizations as appropriate.
Assist with data collection and reporting requirements.
Support outreach efforts andmunity education activities.
Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and external partners across multiple offices.
Attend court proceedings with clients and/or attorneys as needed.
Other duties as assigned. This role requires flexibility and adaptability, as priorities and case needs may shift based on client demand. The Paralegal is an integral part of the legal team and contributes directly to improving access to justice for low-ie New Mexicans. Required Qualifications Paralegal experience preferred; exceptional entry-level candidates will be considered.

Willingness and ability to travel as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience working at a civil legal services or nonprofit environment.
Experience working with low-ie or underserved populations.
Proficiency in Spanish. The position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Pay is determined by years of experience and set by a union scale;to view the salary scale. Salary:
