Job Description

Do you want to help immigrants succeed in the United States? Are you organized, ethical, and good with computers? Are you fluent in written and spoken French or Lingala? We would love to work with you! We are a small immigration law practice based in Cambridge, MA, handling family-based visas, asylum, immigration court cases, and appeals. Our clients come from over 70 different countries.
Duties:
  • Serve as primary contact with the firm's French
  • or Lingala-speaking clients
  • Communicate with clients by email, telephone, and SMS message
  • Interpret during meetings with French
  • or Lingala-speaking clients
  • Analyze and translate documents and conduct country conditions research
  • Determine documents needed from clients, and assist clients in obtaining them when necessary
  • Meet with clients via video or teleconference to gather information, review forms and statements, and prepare for court hearings
  • Draft forms and documents to be filed with administrative agencies or courts
  • Keep abreast of legal/regulatory/administrative changes
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Fluency in written and spoken French or Lingala
  • Excellent typing and computer skills, including proficiency in using email, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, and web-based applications
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills
  • Honest, ethical, conscientious
  • Comfort in interacting with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic levels
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Authorization to work in the
