Recognized as Leading Lawyers in Illinois, we are a premier defense firm specializing in medical malpractice and professional liability. We represent leading hospitals, healthcare systems, and insurance carriers, and we are committed to the professional development of our team. Position Overview We are seeking a high-level Litigation Paralegal to support our Medical Malpractice Defense Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in defense litigation and strong case management skills. You will coordinate matters through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and trial prep. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, excel at managing deadlines, and possess excellent client service skills.
Initial Schedule:
The first six months are in-office to facilitate hands-on training and mentorship. Following this period, the position transitions to a hybrid work model.
Responsibilities Medical Analytics:
Summarize and organize complex medical records; research medical information for the litigation team.
Expert Management:
Locate, recommend, and coordinate with legal experts and consultants for defense needs.
Legal Drafting:
Draft legal documents, pleadings, and discovery responses.
Reporting:
Prepare interim status reports for insurance carriers and clients.
Case Support:
Review discovery, interview witnesses, and assist in case preparation/trial as needed.
Administrative Excellence:
Manage case files with a high level of attention to detail and assist with special projects.
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a medical malpractice litigation paralegal (Defense experience preferred).
Skills:
Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills; ability to prioritize a high-volume caseload.
Technical:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
Certification:
Paralegal Certification is strongly preferred.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
