About the Pendleton Law Team The Pendleton Law Team is a woman-owned, minority-owned law firm serving clients across the Commonwealth of Virginia who have Personal Injury and Mass Torts legal needs. Legal Assistant This position will request and follow up on receipt of medical bills and records. In addition, team members will review all medical records and bills and create demand packages to obtain the maximum compensation for injured clients. This position will obtain final client balances on any and all liens for treatment related to their claim and confirm final child support liens and liens for pre-settlement loans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to: Supports assigned paralegals with all duties as assigned, including, but not limited to: Adjuster contact: drafting and sending letters of representation, requesting information about coverage and liability status, providing case status updates, confirming general information, sending demands and other documents/communications, confirming receipt of demands and other documents/communications, and following up for adjuster responses Client contact: treatment status updates, requesting documents and confirming information Return client calls within 24 hours Address all questions/requests about cases from paralegals and attorneys within 24 hours Assist with investigation, including, but not limited to, FOIA requests and police crash report requests Request medical records and bills from medical providers Create authorizations for clients as needed Request lost wages and GDC affidavits Follow up on requests for medical records, bills, lost wages, and affidavits Save documents received via fax, email, and regular mail to online case management system Enter invoices for medical records under prepaid costs and ensure that the invoices are paid Review medical records and bills upon request Confirm final balances for medical providers Secure all public and private liens (ERISA, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.) Resolve any issues that may be delaying finalization of liens Send lien reduction requests to providers Call health insurance companies and healthcare providers Send letters of representation to lienholders, medical providers, and health insurance companies Complete tasks in a timely manner Notate case files appropriately May be responsible for performing additional administrative tasks, including, but not limited to: Working at the front desk; greeting clients and visitors when they arrive at the office Sorting and delivering mail and deliveries to employees Working closely with Operations department as needed Technical writing, including letters and emails to attorneys, firm staff, medical providers, health and auto insurance companies, lienholders, and clients; notes; case documents; and other documents as needed Other duties as assigned to meet business needsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or equivalent. 1-2 years medical billing and/or coding experience. Highly efficient with computer, computer software (Microsoft Office applications Excel, Word) with a keystroke at 65 wpm. Knowledge and experience with other relevant forms of data technology, including the use of email. Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening.ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree or educational equivalent preferred. Previous legal assistant experience is a plus.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
