National non-profit organization seeks a legal assistant to support in-house counsel by performing a mix of legal support tasks and non-legal administrative/operational tasks. Previous legal experience assisting attorneys is required. Duties will include
- Drafting and editing support (for attorney review) Prepare first drafts of routine correspondence, templates, forms, and court documents. Proofread and format documents for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
- Document and records management Organize, file, and maintain electronic and physical files, including contracts, corporate records, filings, policies, and correspondence. Maintain version control and document naming conventions; ensure documents are stored properly.
- Corporate governance and entity support Assist with maintaining corporate records. Coordinate signatures for approved documents.
- Filings Assist with and manage annual online and paper filings with various federal and state courts and administrative agencies. Maintain reliable tracking of deadlines, statuses, and deliverables. Coordinate with other employees as needed.
- Calendar and deadline coordination Maintain counsel calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate across time zones. Track key deadlines and reminders for matters, renewals, and recurring obligations.
- General Clerical Tasks Typing, photocopying, scanning, and any other duties as assigned. Assist with payments, coding support, and routing for approval. Answer phones.
- Confidentiality and Discretion Handle sensitive, confidential, and privileged information with discretion. Follow company policies and legal department instructions regarding information security, document retention, and access controls. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Must have excellent vocabulary, grammar, proofreading, and editing skills;
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees.
- Must have proficiency with common business tools (e-mail, calendaring, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)), must be familiar with WordPerfect and Quattro Pro, and must be willing to learn new technology (FoxIt). This is a full time Monday-Friday position. Salary range is $65,000
- 70,000 depending on experience.
