Job Description
Under direct supervision, will assist in enforcing local vehicle parking ordinances and laws. This is a part-time, at-will, position that receives direct supervision from a Community Development Manager and may work up to 15 hours per week. The schedule may include early morning hours, weekends, and holidays depending on department needs. This position will work a varied schedule that may include early mornings beginning at 1:30 a.m., weekends, and holidays. Patrols City streets and neighborhoods to enforce parking control laws and regulations, write and/or issue citations or warnings in accordance with city regulations, ordinances, and procedures. Responds to parking violations and complaints. May interact with public during the course of enforcing parking regulations. Report criminal activity, graffiti, vandalism, and animal control needs. May assist with various code enforcement activities. Safely operate a city vehicle Knowledge and use of standard office practices and procedures, including the use of computer applications related to the work. Work a varied schedule that may include early mornings beginning at 1:30 a.m., weekends, and holidays. Communicate clearly with staff and the public. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including City staff and the public. Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as required.
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and at least one year of public contact experience.License or Certificate:
A valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to complete the 40-hour PC 832 course within six months of employment. Depending on assignment, First Aid/CPR certificate may be required.Working Conditions:
Majority of job duties will be in a vehicle with prolonged sitting and in an outdoor environment including various weather conditions. May also require prolonged standing, walking, stooping and bending; work on slippery and uneven surfaces and ability to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times during the work shift; ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds; have acute vision and hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties performed.
