Lot Attendant Department of Public Works - 4.0 Washington, DC Job Details Full-time $41,905 - $55,054 a year 9 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Driving Full Job Description This position is in the Department of Public Works (DPW), Parking Enforcement Management Administration, Abandoned Vehicle Operations. The incumbent supports the effective operation of the Department of Public Works Vehicle Impoundment Lot under the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia Government. Duties and Responsibilities Receives, stores, and releases (to owner or representatives of the Metropolitan Police Department) vehicles brought to the impoundment lot due to parking irregularities. Completes accompanying forms for each transaction. Receives vehicles at impoundment lot from Motor Vehicle Operator who positions vehicle into numbered space assigned by incumbent. Releases vehicles to proper owners after proof of payment of fines from cashier's office and proper identification by owner is provided. Escorts incumbent to specific location and owner removes vehicle from the lot.
Qualifications and Education Specialized Experience:
Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Licenses and Certifications Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Work Environment The work involves a considerable amount of walking outdoors on the lot, as well as the sedentary clerical work done indoors. Work is performed in a climate controlled indoor environment, but the incumbent is required to work outside in all types of weather on a constant basis.
Other Significant Facts Tour of Duty:
The incumbent works on rotating shifts and may be required to work weekends and observed holidays.

Career Service (Permanent) Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is in a collective bargaining unit by AFGE 1975, and you may be required to pay an agency service fee (dues) through direct payroll deduction.
Position Designation:
This position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability - Security Sensitive . Accordingly, the incumbent will be subject to pre-employment checks (criminal background checks, consumer credit check, traffic record checks, if applicable) as a condition of employment, and will be subject to periodic criminal background checks for the duration of your tenure. Applicants claiming "Residency Preference" will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of employment. Applicants must provide adequate evidence to support their response to each of the multiple-choice questions in the subsequent text box question. An applicant's failure to support their responses to multiple-choice questions in the subsequent text boxes will result in disqualification and will not receive further consideration.
Essential Designation:
This position is classified as an essential position under the provisions of the District Personnel Manual Chapter 12. As such, the incumbent is required to serve in emergency situations to perform critical duties, i.e., snow removal, debris removal, transportation, shelter, operations, food distribution, and communications. These duties may be performed when the government is closed or when employees are dismissed early.
