Job Description

This position is responsible for enforcement of the Town's parking ordinances and regulations. This unit is responsible for serviceability of parking control devices, markings and signs. Enforces all traffic and parking regulations by issuing parking citations, checks for vehicles in the Town that have not paid overdue parking fines, and completes written reports. Enforces all traffic and parking regulations by issuing parking citations. Enforces and checks for vehicles in the Town that have not paid overdue parking fines. When discovered, Vehicle Immobilization Devices (traffic boots) must be installed. Makes traffic surveys and completes written reports. Operates Town automobiles safely in normal day-to-day driving. Directs traffic at intersections with accidents, and also direct traffic by crossing children for school. Answers any questions about the Town area or ordinances to the public, as well as answering calls to troubleshoot parking meters. Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must successfully complete the Parking Enforcement Field Training Program, which includes passing the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) exam, based on course availability and assignment by the supervisor. Must successfully complete a 16-hour Parking Enforcement Specialist School, based on course availability and assignment by the supervisor. Must possess a valid and unrestricted Florida driver's license. Must have the ability to work all shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. May be mandated to work extended hours and/or days as deemed necessary for operational needs. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with other employees, supervisors, and the public. Ability to observe situations and take the proper action. Ability to react quickly and calmly during emergency situations. Ability to enforce Town ordinances with firmness, tact and impartiality. Ability to operate and care for Town vehicles used in the essential functions of this job. Ability to direct traffic at intersections. Ability to operate an Auto-Cite ticket machine.
