8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday)
COMPENSATION
AFSCME Pay Grade 216 - $21.45/hr.
CITY RESIDENCY REQUIRED SUMMARY
Enforces state and local parking laws in a professional and courteous manner; organizes available parking and makes prohibited parking areas free from congestion. Maintains, repairs, and installs parking meter devices; and collects money from meters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
One year certificate from an accredited college or technical school; one to two years of responsible-related experience and valid state driver's license required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job considered.
IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES
Knowledge of applicable state, federal and local ordinances, laws, rules and regulations; geography of the City; repairing simple machines or mechanical equipment; recordkeeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing and using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; using mathematics; and performing electronic repairs including bench work. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and so forth; to write simple correspondence; to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; analyze and diagnose meter failure problems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people; accurately estimate costs for repairs and accidents; write routine reports and correspondence; and deal with problem involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles.
