CITY OF SAUGATUCK JOB DESCRIPTION OVAL BEACH GATE ATTENDANT
Position Summary:
General work in welcoming and providing assistance to beach patrons at Oval Beach Park. Issuing daily and seasonal parking permits. Positions run from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.Reports to:
Beach Patrol Supervisor Supervises:
No supervisory responsibilityESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position is required to perform the following essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. These examples are not an exhaustive list of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. 1.Gate Operations:
Staff the entrance gate to the park/beach; greet visitors in a courteous and professional manner; control vehicle entry based on parking availability 2.Payment Processing:
Collect and process payments for daily parking passes and seasonal permits; issue parking passes to guests; maintain accurate records of transactions and safeguard cash 3.Parking Access Control:
Monitor vehicles entering the parking lot to ensure all vehicles have obtained the appropriate parking pass or permit; communicate with staff regarding parking lot capacity and temporarily suspend entry when the lot reaches capacity 4.Customer Service:
Provide information to visitors regarding park rules, parking regulations, beach amenities, and general directions; assist guests with questions and refer unusual or complex issues to a supervisor or police when appropriate. 5.Recordkeeping:
Maintain daily logs of visitor counts, parking pass sales, and other required documentation. 6. Performs other duties as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.Requirements include the following:
Ability to use a two way radio CPR/First Aid Certification (will train if necessary) Experience as a cashier or handling cash Knowledge of record keeping procedures Knowledge of basic mathematics Ability to work constructively and interact professionally with employees, the general public, and supervisors Ability to effectively diffuse and calm difficult customer situationsPhysical Requirements and Work Environment:
The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job. An employee in this position spends the majority of their time outdoors at the Oval Beach Park. Ability to perform job duties under adverse conditions such as exposure to sun, extreme weather, insects, and standing for extended periods of time is required. Job is subject to shift work Monday through Sunday and all holidays.Job Type:
