The hiring range for this position is $37,029.36 (minimum salary) to $50,972.15 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications. The purpose of this position is to maintain and enforce parking ordinances. Successful performance assists in the provision of parking for citizens and visitors. The work consists of related duties. Inclement weather and heavy traffic contribute to the complexity of the work. Job Responsibilities Major Duties Operates and maintains an Electric Gem Vehicle to mark vehicles and issues citations to vehicles in timed parking zones and metered spaces; reports faulty meters to meter technician. Enters citations into computer. Enters license plate numbers into DMV computer for ownership information; prints late notices and prepares for mailing. Prints daily wheel-lock list for five time violators; places wheel locks upon appropriate automobiles. Collects money from meters; counts and bags coins; deposits funds. Process criminal history reports as requests by officers. Attends Parking Board meetings. Provide customer service for citizens in and around Wilson Police headquarters. Performs other related duties as needed by the department. Guidelines Guidelines include the city parking regulations and supervisory instructions. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application. Supervisory/Management Responsibility None Minimum Qualifications Education/Experience Requirements Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Knowledge Requirements Knowledge of city geography and related parking ordinances. Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures. Skill in the operation of a computer and other modern office equipment. Skill in operating, inspecting, and maintaining a 4 wheel GEM electric vehicle, golf cart, or ATV. Skill in preparing reports and entering data. Skill in oral and written communication. Work Environment/Physical Demands The work is typically performed in an office or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather, while intermittently sitting, standing or stooping. Primary work hours reflect posted parking regulations with flexibility as needed by the department.
