Parking Control Officer

Description Duties and Responsiblities Patrols an area monitoring vehicles parked in violation Writes tickets for parking violations Gives directions and answers inquiries Carries out routine clerical tasks during inclement weather Uses portable hand-held parking ticket writer/printer Collects meter money Assists with snow removal of sidewalks and various other light maintenance duties Changes batteries in parking meters as necessary Assist with changing meter globes when needed Assists with Parking division on-call rotation Works with special events Assists with bagging of meters and blocking off parking spaces as needed Contributes to a positive team environment Requirements Education and/or

Experience:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend. Ability to write using proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to speak and communicate effectively using correct English.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

General knowledge of traffic and parking ordinances. Ability to work for short periods of time in inclement weather. Ability to handle routine clerical and recordkeeping functions.

Required Physical Activities:

Standing and/or walking for up to 8 hours, during various temperatures and daily weather. Requires light physical effort working almost exclusively with lightweight materials (up to 50 pounds) including but not limited to walking, talking, stooping, kneeling, light lifting, bending, crawling, and gripping.
