Clarificion from the agency Stus Candides (Merit Promotion and VEOA Eligibles) Duties Help As a Supervisory Pretrial Services Officer, you will: Supervise and provide leadership to unit staff responsible for the assessment, investigion, supervision, and monitoring of defendants throughout the pretrial process. Direct staff in conducting defendant interviews; ghering and verifying background informion; researching criminal justice histories; assessing risk to public safety and risk of failure to appear; and preparing recommendions to the court regarding release conditions, program eligibility, electronic monitoring, trement referrals, and other pretrial mters. Oversee staff in the development and implemention of supervision plans for defendants designed to promote court appearance, reduce risk to public safety, and ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions, including electronic monitoring, drug testing, reporting requirements, trement participion, and stay-away orders. Ensure staff continuously assess defendant behavior, respond appropriely to violions, and coordine interventions to support defendant stability and compliance within the community. Supervise staff responsible for preparing pretrial services reports, court reports, violion reports, and recommendions for submission to the court prior to judicial hearings. Ensure reports are accure, timely, and address relevant factors including pending charges, criminal history, probion or supervision stus, substance abuse concerns, community ties, flight risk, and public safety considerions. Testify in complex, unprecedented, or high-profile cases and explain PSA policies, procedures, and recommendions to judicial officers and stakeholders. Ensure quality control and compliance with agency policies by reviewing court reports, recommendions, electronic monitoring documention, trement referrals, case records, and other unit work products. Ensure staff provide support to judicial officers regarding release orders and supervision conditions and maintain accure documention within PSA automed systems. Monitor and evalue staff utilizion of PSA automed systems, electronic monitoring technologies, trement tracking systems, and reled dabases to ensure accure case management, timely updes, proper documention, and preparion of regular and special reports for the court, torneys, trement providers, law enforcement agencies, and other authorized stakeholders. Ensure staff properly apply confidentiality rules governing the maintenance, protection, and release of sensitive defendants, trement, and electronic monitoring informion. Supervise assigned staff by assigning work, establishing priorities, monitoring workload distribution, and evaluing employee performance. Administer leave policies and personnel programs in accordance with agency policies, affirmive action, and equal employment opportunity principles. Counsel employees on administrive and performance mters; interview and recommend candides for employment; identify staff training and professional development needs; and provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and corrective guidance to improve staff performance, operional effectiveness, and service delivery. Collabore with the Unit Chief, agency leadership, partner agencies, law enforcement, trement providers, behavioral health organizions, and court stakeholders to ensure effective communicion, coordined case management, consistency in supervision practices, and efficient unit operions. Supports agency initiives involving electronic monitoring, trement compliance oversight, public safety stregies, and evidence-based supervision practices for high-risk defendants. Perform special projects and assignments involving operional reviews, quality assurance initiives, productivity assessments, policy implemention, and resolution of complex supervision or administrive issues. Analyze findings, prepare recommendions and report for management, and develop internal opering procedures, guidance, and training merials to support agency operions and improve program effectiveness. AND Specialized Experience:
To qualify the GS-13 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience th equipped you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This experience must have been equivalent to least the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience assessing, evaluing, monitoring the case management, trement and/or supervision of defendants or offenders in a criminal justice system.
