Job Description

Job Description The Probation Officer is responsible for supervising children adjudicated delinquent and those identified as Children in Need of Services (CHINS). This role involves providing case management, monitoring compliance with court orders, and connecting youth and families to community-based programs and services aimed at reducing recidivism. The Probation Officer will also assess needs, develop case plans, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for the court. Essential Duties Meets and assists clients and/or families with programs Makes recommendations to court Provides supervised drug screens to clients and enforces accountability measures Attends/participates in staffings, court hearings, prepares and presents case updates as needed Conducts office, home and school visits Closely monitors youth to ensure conditions of probation are met Maintains detailed case files documenting progress, violations and interventions Completes referrals to community-based programs Performs various other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary Public Speaking Duties Makes recommendations to court Testifies in court Other Job Requirements/Information Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background is required which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting. Grade The grade for this position is B25(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or related field AND One year of related experience OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications 3 years of related experience For information related to position-specific essential duties, knowledge and skills, and physical requirements, please click here .
