Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to become a key player in preparing clients for successful reentry into society as a Community Corrections Program Monitor at the Iowa Department of Corrections-Second District. As a Community Corrections Program Monitor in our 24-hour community-based corrections facility, you will be a direct service provider, engaging in high-contact interactions with clients. You will play an essential role in eliciting and supporting pro-social behaviors, with a focus on programming that fosters personal growth and reduces the risk of reoffending. We value initiative and independent judgment, and you will be part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to observe and assess client behaviors and interactions. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to build quality relationships with clients will be essential in driving positive change. You'll be trained to employ effective behavior change techniques, such as motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral strategies, to facilitate lasting transformation. Your dedication to client welfare extends to supporting case managers and clients in achieving their goals, considering individual needs, disabilities, trauma, and cultural responsiveness. Work Hours The successful candidate may select from one of the following fixed schedules: 1. Sunday 4PM-8PM, Monday-Tuesday 12PM-9:30PM, Wednesday-Thursday 8 AM-5:30 PM, with Friday and Saturday off. 2. Sunday-Wednesday 11AM-9:30PM, with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday off. Travel may be necessary to accommodate professional development or department meetings. Work Location The successful candidate may select either Beje Clark Residential Facility in Mason City, IA or Marshalltown Residential Facility in Marshalltown, IA for their domicile. Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time work in human services, criminal justice, or corrections. A total of three years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as a Probation/Parole Officer 1 or Residential Officer Senior.
