Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Probation Officer and play a vital role in supporting individuals on probation. In this dynamic position, you will assess, supervise, and guide offenders, ensuring compliance with court orders while promoting positive behavioral change. Your proactive approach will help foster safer communities and empower individuals to make lasting improvements in their lives. Responsibilities Supervise and manage a caseload of adult offenders, ensuring compliance with court-ordered conditions and supervision requirements. Conduct risk and needs assessments and develop case management plans tailored to individual offender needs. Monitor compliance with probation conditions through regular meetings, home visits, and drug testing. Prepare Pre-Sentence Investigation reports. Maintain and update accurate case files. Collaborate with community resources, treatment providers, and law enforcement to coordinate services and interventions. Prepare and present oral and written reports, recommendations, and testimony to the court. Respond to violations of probation conditions through appropriate interventions, sanctions, referrals and court action when necessary. Establish and maintain professional relationships with justice system partners, treatment providers, and other community organizations. Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major course work in criminal justice, human services field, or a related social science. Experience in probation or counseling is desirable. Must pass a criminal background check, provide a negative drug test, and possess a valid driver's license. Skills Required Knowledge of the criminal justice system. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people and professions. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed, thorough reports. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Willingness to assist offenders in making lifestyle changes. Demonstrate a willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate the need of the caseload and have the ability to adjust schedule and shift priorities for the unexpected. Proficient in the use of various computer software applications.
