at Department of Corrections in Springfield, Illinois, United States Job Description Position Overview This position serves as a Sex Offender Unit Parole Supervisor. This position plans, organizes and evaluates the operation of the Parole Office/Sex Offender Unit, and manages all activities assigned to the Parole Offices. You will serve as a full line supervisor. This position would be an excellent fit for someone with a passion to implement a successful integration of Department of Corrections individuals in custody to the outside communities. We welcome applicants who are looking for a dynamic opportunity with a purpose. Essential Functions Supervises staff. Organizes, plans, and evaluates the operation of the Parole Office/Sex Offender Unit. Coordinates efforts to apprehend/transport escapees and other violators in the community to a secure correctional facility. Coordinates completion and reports of investigations prior to the release of offender to their homes. Conducts public relations activities in the community representing the Sex Offender Unit. Schedules and monitors activities to ensure proper coverage of response to problems regarding movements, escapes and other serious program violations. Seeks specific expertise and participates in ongoing training in sex offender monitoring, legal issues, surveillance techniques, juvenile concerns, evidence-based practices, innovative therapeutic approaches, and updates resources related to the sex offender unit. Reviews and monitors all reports and procedures to ensure compliance with operational and program directives. Works and confers with the Surveillance Unit to coordinate and lead surveillance operations. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college, preferably with courses in behavioral or social sciences or law enforcement. Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the area of law enforcement, probation or parole work or counseling work in a public or private agency or institution whose primary function is the treatment and the rehabilitation of adult or juvenile individuals in custody. Of the three (3) years of experience, it requires two (2) years of experience working with parolees. Conditions of Employment Requires the ability to travel. Requires a valid & current driver's license. Requires possession of an Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification ( FOID ) card. Requires ability to carry a firearm. Requires the ability to qualify with firearms prior to the completion of the initial preservice training curriculum, and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws. Requires Sex Offender Supervision Unit Training Certificate. Requires ability to pass the
IDOC / IDJJ
background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited. Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
