Job Description

Want to help your community ? The 11th Judicial District Community Corrections has an opening for an Intensive Supervision Officer (ISO) in our Pittsburg, KS office. Why will you like this position? o You will play a critical role in helping people transform their lives. o You will become an integral part of the newly implemented Recovery Court program in the district o As you help to foster successful outcomes, your community becomes safer. o Organizational culture is vital to us. If you don't succeed, we don't succeed. o We usually receive 12 to 14 paid holidays annually. o We have some flexibility in our schedules. One late night per week lets us adjust our hours, so you can start your weekend early or choose other convenient options. o This position would offer the opportunity to learn from administrators and potentially advance This full-time position entails the supervision of adults who have been placed on probation by the Courts. Excellent communication, organizational and writing skills are vital . We are looking for that exceptional someone:
  • With sound principles who can effectively build rapport with each person assigned to their supervision;
  • Who can assist the needs of probationers with complex problems and circumstances and motivate them into making pro-social changes in their lifestyle;
  • Who can model and reinforce pro-social values and actions yet challenge behaviors inconsistent with those values;
  • Who engages community resources to support client reformation;
  • Who will use provided skills training in Motivational Interviewing to achieve client buy in for change, thus decreasing criminogenic risk.
  • Who can work as a team and thrives on constructive feedback.
  • Whose interests focus on evaluating the overall situation using risk assessment tools and developing strategies—such as cognitive reports, group referrals, and intervention methods—to customize success plans aimed at lowering risk factors.
Required education:
Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice or closely related field.
PREFERRED
1-year experience in noted fields, with case management experience. Successful applicants must submit to a pre-employment background check, drug screen and possess a valid driver's license. Crawford County and the 11th Judicial District are Equal Opportunity Employers.
