Right Step is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Court Assessor to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will conduct thorough assessments and make impactful referrals for defendants referred by Judges and Court Commissioners. You'll be at the forefront of helping individuals identify and overcome substance use and other barriers to treatment, working collaboratively to support their recovery journey. Your detailed reports and expert testimony will directly influence judicial decisions, guiding individuals toward recovery and reintegration.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments focusing on substance use and other treatment barriers. Utilize standardized tools and clinical interviews to gather critical data. Provide detailed reports to Judges, with treatment recommendations and updates. Collaborate with court officials, probation officers, and treatment providers to ensure coordinated care. Maintain accurate, confidential records following all legal and ethical standards. Participate in court hearings and offer expert testimony as needed. Stay updated on best practices in substance use assessment and treatment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred. Licensure or certification in substance abuse counseling (e.g., CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LADC, LGPC) required ). Minimum of 2 years of experience in substance abuse assessment and referral. Deep understanding of the ASAM PPC and familiarity with the criminal justice system. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and communication skills. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and relevant software. High organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively.
Work Environment & Requirements:
Work primarily in an office setting within a courthouse or probation department. Regular interaction with clients facing high stress and behavioral challenges. Travel to various court locations as needed. Why Right Step? Competitive Salary=
