Job Description

Residency and Truancy Officer The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school community in Somerset County serving approximately 3,700 students Pre-K through Grade 12, seeks a dynamic, organized, and community-oriented professional for the position of Residency & Truancy Officer. The successful candidate will support the district's residency, enrollment, and attendance processes through investigations, home visits, record review, and collaboration with families, school staff, and community agencies. This position requires professionalism, confidentiality, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with care and discretion.
Qualifications Include:
Bilingual Spanish/English required Valid NJ driver's license and reliable transportation required Minimum 60 college credits required Residency, law enforcement, insurance, attendance, or investigative experience preferred Knowledge of student enrollment procedures, residency documentation, and attendance processes preferred Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple cases simultaneously Flexible schedule with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities as needed
Responsibilities Include:
Conduct residency investigations and home visits Review and verify enrollment and residency documentation Maintain investigative reports, records, and case files Collaborate with administrators, families, and outside agencies Assist with truancy matters and court appearances as needed Support district McKinney-Vento responsibilities Communicate residency requirements and district policies to families

Month Position Salary:
$60,000 (minimum) - $64,000 (maximum) commensurate with experience Benefits as per contract: Medical, dental, vision, paid time off, professional development, and pension eligibility.
