Job Description

The Adult Court Services internship offers motivated criminal justice students an opportunity to learn case management, court procedures, and evidence-based practices for supervising individuals on community control. Applicant must be a student from an accredited educational institution, preferably in the field of criminal justice, criminology or psychology. Must not have a Criminal Record. This position requires an individual who has integrity and is reliable. The individual must be respectful in striving to accomplish the mission of the Delaware County Adult Court Services Department - To promote community safety by holding individuals accountable, supporting positive behavior change, and guiding rehabilitation through vigilant community supervision.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Observation and Shadowing:
Observe probation officers during client meetings, field visits, court hearings and home visits.
Case Management Support:
Assist with intake process, client file maintenance, and data entry.
Report Assistance:
Help draft, organize, or research information for pre-sentence investigations and violation reports.
Interviewing:
Participate in interviewing clients to assess needs, risks, and compliance with court orders.
Program Participation:
Observe cognitive-behavioral group programming or educational classes. Generate individualized case plans via utilization of the Ohio Rish Assessment System (ORAS) in conjunction with outside treatment agencies. Monitor court costs and restitution payments as ordered by the sentencing Judge. Utilize evidence based cognitive behavioral interventions to facilitate pro-social skills. Statistical gathering to ensure the appropriate dosage of interventions is congruent to the risk level of the offender.
