The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising individuals on probation, ensuring compliance with court orders, and supporting their successful reintegration into society. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to public safety. The Probation Officer will play a vital role in assessing risks, developing case plans, and providing guidance to offenders to promote positive behavioral change. Responsibilities Monitor and supervise individuals on probation through regular meetings, home visits, and community contacts Conduct thorough assessments of offenders' needs, risks, and progress to inform case management strategies Develop individualized supervision plans in collaboration with clients, courts, and community agencies Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage behavioral change and compliance with probation conditions Enforce court orders by ensuring adherence to legal requirements and reporting violations when necessary Manage crisis situations effectively, providing intervention or referrals as needed Document case activities accurately through detailed report writing and maintain comprehensive case records Collaborate with law enforcement, social services, treatment providers, and other stakeholders to support offender rehabilitation Conduct interviews with offenders, victims, and collateral contacts to gather relevant information for case decisions Participate in ongoing training related to law enforcement procedures, social work practices, and crisis management Qualifications Proven experience as a probation officer preferred, prior work in criminal justice, law enforcement, or related fields is considered. Excellent interviewing skills with the ability to build rapport and motivate change Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively manage conflicts or emergencies Proficiency in report writing with attention to detail and accuracy Familiarity with legal procedures related to probation and community supervision Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative approach with team members Prior experience in law enforcement or social work is advantageous but not mandatory This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the community by supporting individuals on their path toward rehabilitation and responsible citizenship.
