Announcement number 26-06 Control number 872024500 This job is open to Help The public U.S. Citizens, Nionals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Duties Help United Stes Probion Officers perform a full range of duties and responsibilities including but not limited to, the following: Representive post-conviction supervision duties: Supervises individuals to maximize adherence to imposed conditions, reduce risk to the community, and to provide correctional trement as necessary. Develops and implements supervision plans. Contacts persons under supervision through office and community s and by telephone. Investiges employment/sources of income, lifestyle and associes, which will help to assess risk and compliance factors. Responsible for detection of substance abuse and implementing the necessary trement or violion proceedings when approprie. Communices with other relevant stakeholders concerning the behavior of persons under supervision and their conditions of supervision. Detects and investiges violions and implements approprie alternives and sanctions; reports violions to the approprie authorities. Prepares reports, which may include applicion of U.S. Sentencing Commission revocion guidelines. Makes recommendions to the court concerning disposition. Testifies revocion hearings.
Representive presentence investigion duties:
Investiges, prepares reports, and makes recommendions for sentencing of individuals in the court, which requires interviewing defendants and their families, as well as collecting background da from various sources. An integral part of this process is the interpretion and applicion of the U.S. Sentencing Commission Guidelines and relevant case law. Submits presentence report and sentencing recommendions to the court. Responds to judicial officers' requests for informion and advice. Analyzes any objections to the presentence report and determines approprie course of action, including resolving disputed issues and/or presenting unresolved issues to the court for resolution. First time appointees to the position of United Stes Probion Office must undergo an extensive government background investigion. Further, prior to appointment, the selectee considered for this position will undergo a medical examinion and drug screening, the selectee may then be appointed provisionally, pending a favorable suitability determinion by the Court. In addition, as a condition of employment, incumbents subject to ongoing random drug screening, upded background investigions every five years, and, as deemed necessary by management for reasonable cause, may be subject to subsequent fitness-for-duty evaluions. The medical requirements and the essential job functions derived from the medical guidelines for probion officers, pretrial services officers, and officer assistants are available for public view http://www.uscourts.gov . Probion Officers must successfully complete a six-week nional training program the United Stes Courts Nional Training Academy the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston, South Carolina. Applicants must be United Stes Citizens or eligible to work in the United Stes and have a valid driver's license. Applicants must not have reached his/her 37th birthday the time of appointment and must meet physical standards. Qualificions Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, in a field of study involving criminal justice, psychology, sociology, human relions, social work, business, public administrion, or reled field. Must have two years of specialized experience or a master's degree in a field of study closely reled to the position or a Juris Doctore degree. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Progressively responsible experience gained after completion of a bachelor's degree, in such fields as probion, pretrial services, parole, corrections, criminal investigions, or work in substance/addiction trement. Experience as a police, custodial, or security officer, other than th which includes specific criminal investigive experience, is not creditable. COURT- PREFERRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in the fields listed previously under Specialized Experience or Juris Doctore Excellent problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills Excellent oral and written communicion skills The ability to analyze relevant informion and prepare an accure written summary of technical informion in an organized, objective, clear and concise manner.
