Job Description

One opening exist for probation officer who will supervise a caseload of juvenile youth; enforce orders of the court and conditions of supervision; review rules of probation supervision and special conditions with juvenile and family; meet with juvenile in office and field; investigate complaints about juvenile promptly; prevent future delinquent acts and technical violations through evidence-based practices and supervision; conduct investigations, prepare social/legal case histories, intake summaries, and probation updates; transport juvenile to/from appointments, court hearings, community service projects, as well as placement facilities; conduct drug and DNA tests; place juvenile on electronic monitoring and monitor status; and perform additional duties as assigned. Requirements Qualified applicant will possess a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field; valid Pennsylvania driver's license without infractions that would prevent hire; self-motivation; flexibility to adapt to unexpected situations; capacity to create a sense of purpose; capacity to anticipate and respond to difficult or dangerous situations; strong customer service orientation with the ability to build rapport and work cooperatively with others; excellent written and verbal communications skills; courteous, patient, and professional demeanor; proficient organizational abilities and attention to detail; experience maintaining confidentiality; and computer literacy.
