Job Description

JUVENILE PROBATION OFFICER
The 452nd Judicial District Juvenile Probation Department is accepting applications for the position of Juvenile Probation Officer. Applicants must be 21 years of age, hold a bachelor's degree, have no disqualifying criminal history, pass a drug screen, have a clean driving record, and can meet state certification requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervise juveniles on probation, set goals with the juveniles and their parents, and help them reach their rehabilitation goals through supervision and case management; Conducts home, field, and school visits; Keep accurate and timely chronological entries; Receive offense referrals and perform preliminary investigations; Prepares social histories; Make appropriate disposition recommendations in all cases; Comply with legal requirements to ensure juveniles receive full benefits of due process; Maintains contact with parents, attorneys, law enforcement, and community agencies; Prepare court documentation and testify in all aspects of court hearings; Make appropriate referrals to other agencies Seek, secure, and transport juveniles to alternative placements outside of their home; Transports "at risk" clients; Assigned on-call duty on a rotating basis.
OTHER DUTIES
Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting, walking, bending, standing, and driving for long periods. Ability to restrain juveniles in handcuffs.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Contact with "at risk" clients. Frequent exposure to sunlight, cool, heat, etc.
EDUCATION AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Required - Bachelor's from an accredited college or university recognized by the Texas Higher Education Board. No convictions for criminal offenses other than minor traffic violations. Clean driving record.
SERVING EDWARDS, KIMBLE, MASON, MCCULLOCH, & MENARD COUNTIES
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
