Job Description

JOB CLASSIFICATION
Non-Exempt, Full-time
HOURLY RATE
Grade 3, Starting at $15.89 hr.
NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK
40 hours per week
NUMBER OF MONTHS PER YEAR
12 months
LOCATION
Main Office in North Tazewell
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Local Probation Officer provides Evidenced-Based supervision and case management for the Community Corrections Program offenders. Case management includes meeting with probationers, conducting drug screens, arranging for counseling, assigning community service, conducting assessments, maintain case files, and performing other responsibilities; Performs offender intakes, sets up case files and maintains case file tracking as needed; S/He maintains excellent working relationship with all three courts and the commonwealth and all service providers; Provides reports to court on progress of probationers as needed; S/He runs criminal record checks;
EDUCATION
Education/training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the required job responsibilities; Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; Should be skilled in investigative interview techniques; Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; S/He must be willing to attend workshops, trainings and conferences in the service area, overnight and out of county as needed;
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have a satisfactory driving record; Must be willing to attend overnight or out-of-town travel; Must have or secure a Child Protective Services check, Sex Offender Check, DMV Check, Drug/Alcohol Screening and Criminal Record Check;
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and may require constant or extensive standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, hearing, seeing, speaking, and lifting;
PREFERENCES
(Current and former Head Start parent, active Agency volunteers, current work experience participants, interns);
