Thurston County Pretrial Services seeks a Pretrial Diversion Officer I as part of its Pretrial Diversion Team. This team works collaboratively with both criminal justice and behavioral health partners to assist individuals in completing treatment-focused diversion agreements in lieu of incarceration, possibly resulting in dismissal of criminal charges. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following : Managing a caseload of individuals with behavioral health needs who have entered into diversion agreements Making referrals to community services providers. Monitoring client compliance with diversion agreements and conditions of release, including submitting written reports, making recommendations, and/ or testifying in court as needed. Conducting risk and needs assessments for individuals involved in criminal cases by conducting interviews and reviewing records. Accessing criminal history databases. Communicating with attorneys, court personnel, and community-based providers. Maintaining accurate files and ensuring court documentation is filed in a timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social sciences, criminal justice, or public administration. Additional applicable experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Must have completed course work in substance use, mental health, and/or domestic violence studies. Three (3) years of experience in the criminal justice or social services field interviewing, counseling or supervising justice-involved individuals. Must be able to pass background clearance to for access to enter corrections facility and run criminal history. Current Washington State Driver's License or have requested and obtained an appropriate accommodation.
DESIRED SKILLS
Knowledge of evidence-based diversion and pretrial practices; Experience with casework including working with individuals with behavioral health needs; Experience working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders; Experience deescalating individuals in crisis; Knowledge of local community resources; and Ability to establish priorities and work independently.
