Job Description

Job Summary:
The EHS Manager s erves as a resource for the management team in promoting a safe and healthy workplace. They will help to ensure compliance with all safety, health and environmental regulations, codes, and permits as they pertain to operations and disposal.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Establish, develop, and maintain parameters for EHS operations, testing, record-keeping, reporting, training, and coordinating with other departments and supervisors to ensure current compliance with local, state and federal guidelines. Direct and monitor compliance efforts, properly reporting any deviation, completing all necessary correspondence and reports. Initiate efforts or equipment changes that will be necessary for future compliance in sufficient time to integrate into current system and remain in full compliance. Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections. Drafts inspection reports to document findings. Prepares, schedules, and presents training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics. Prepare Hazardous Waste Management, Wastewater Treatment, and Safety annual budgets. Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, including cost, as required. Coordinates the pickup, consolidation, and proper storage of hazardous waste materials. Conducts accident and near miss investigations, completes first report of injury, and takes injured employees to post-accident drug screening and evaluations as needed. Assist with the preparation of all OSHA and worker's compensation reports and assessments. Conducts various safety inspections. Fill in for the Waste Treatment Operators as directed. Performs other related duties as assigned. This job title has a direct effect on hazardous waste management and / or hazardous waste accumulation, whether by direct contact with hazardous waste or through hazardous waste management activities and must receive training. Training will be conducted annually on the following topics: Facility emergency procedures contained within the Integrated Contingency Plan Hazardous waste determination / explanation Hazardous waste packaging Hazardous waste generator management requirements 45 hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Technician certification This training must be completed within six months of their employment or assignment to this job position. Employees that have not completed the training are not permitted to work in unsupervised positions until they have completed the training.
Education/Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field required; Master's degree desirable. Strong knowledge of chemical technology and environmental codes, rules, and permits.
Experience:
Minimum of five years' experience preferred. License(s)/Certification(s)
Required:
Certification in professional treatment organization (REM or CHMM).
Skills:
Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Machines/Tools/Equipment/Work Aids:
Which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position. Analytical laboratory equipment and wastewater equipment.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:
Normal office environment which requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see. May involve the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects of up to 25 pounds, infrequently. Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections. Worker exposed to hazards such as chemicals and fumes.
