Sports Management Full Job Description Summary:
The Racetrack Manager is responsible for the daily operations, safety, and maintenance of the Firebird Motorsports Park. This role ensures the track and surrounding infrastructure are event-ready, safe, and compliant with industry standards. The Racetrack Manager oversees staff, coordinates events, supports regulatory compliance, and maintains a strong focus on safety and guest experience.
Responsibilities:
Track Maintenance:
Ensure the racetrack surface, barriers, fencing, lighting, and safety systems are properly maintained and race ready. Schedule and oversee regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of track infrastructure and equipment. Manage vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or upgrades. Oversee track preparation each time the racetrack is in use to ensure safe racing conditions. Inspect and prepare racetrack surfaces and racing equipment before and after events and identify deficiencies with corrective actions. Continuously refine racetrack preparation methods and equipment implementation based on best practices and industry standards.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with NHRA, SFI, and other sanctioning body requirements. Work with Safety teams to Implement safety protocols and coordinate training for staff and participants. Supervise EMS, fire, and first-response readiness at events. Lead post-event debriefs to address safety or operational issues.
Event Management:
Plan and coordinate events including races, competitions, exhibitions, and training sessions. Oversee racetrack logistics, scheduling, pit area readiness, and participant coordination. Be present for major racing events, special productions, and weekly programs. Oversee all on site racing activities across all racetracks including drag strip, road course, skid pad, and off road track. Oversee all aspects of competition including rules, points, race programs, scheduling, and annual awards or banquets. Manage the Competition Tech Department.
Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage budgets for racetrack operations, maintenance, staffing, and equipment. Monitor expenses and identify cost-effective solutions. Forecast and plan for equipment, parts, and staffing needs.
Regulatory and Environmental Compliance:
Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, permits, and licenses. Ensure proper noise management, waste handling, and environmentally responsible operations. Maintain documentation of inspections, certifications, and safety records.
Customer and Spectator Experience:
Interact with drivers, participants, teams, and guests to provide assistance and address concerns. Oversee spectator areas, parking, and amenities to ensure safety and cleanliness. Collect feedback and implement improvements for participants and visitors.
Marketing and Promotion Support:
Assist in promoting events, brackets, and programs to attract participants and fans. Work with the Director of Motorsports and Entertainment and marketing team to enhance track visibility and community engagement. Assist in the creation of participant sponsorship and contingency programs and support meetings with race class sponsors.
Emergency Response:
Develop and implement emergency response plans for accidents, medical incidents, or unforeseen events. Ensure that all staff are trained and prepared for rapid response.

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works both inside and outside on a regular basis and in most weather conditions and may operate under extreme temperatures. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED. Two (2) years of management experience CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire. NHRA or SFI certification within 90 days of hire. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for events. Valid AZ driver's license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report. Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire. A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs. Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Business, Sports Management, Event Management, or related field. Knowledge of motorsports operations, facility management, and event coordination. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem solving skills. Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities. Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
