Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager Reporting to:
Chief Operating Officer Exemption Status:
Exempt Position Summary The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all EHS programs across multiple IMS sites nationwide. This role drives the development and execution of EHS strategies, ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, and fosters a strong culture of safety, health, and environmental responsibility throughout the organization. The EHS Manager appears as a trusted partner to operations and leadership, with oversight to site-level EHS Safety Committees Reps, leads audits and investigations, and serves as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Oversight Lead, support and mentor a team of EHS Safety Committee Reps across multiple U.S. locations. Standardize and Participate in Location Branch Safety Committee Meetings (In-Person and/or Virtual) Provide strategic direction, tools, and guidance to ensure consistent implementation of EHS programs and standards Champion a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture across all levels of the organization Partner with operations and leadership to embed EHS best practices into daily business activities. (Fulfillment Managers and Supervisors to remain accountable for outcomes) Coordinate and document annual company and branch EHS goals Lead corporate safety committee monthly review meetings Operational lead interface with safety partners in conjunction with CFO and COO Advise appropriate leadership on corrective action & disciplinary measures with employees or locations who fail to comply with expected safety standards Compliance & Policy Management (Location Specific) Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and training programs aligned with CAL-OSHA, OSHA, EPA, DOT and applicable state and local regulations. Ensure company-wide compliance with all Federal, State and Local environmental, health, and safety laws and reporting requirements. Monitor regulatory changes and proactively adjust programs to maintain compliance. Audit, Risk & Incident Management Plan and conduct regular on-site and virtual EHS audits and inspections. Identify hazards, assess risk, and drive corrective and preventive action plans to implement mitigation controls. Conduct follow-up investigations to ensure hazards and deficiencies are addressed and mitigated Lead or assist local teams in their incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation. Audit and recommend updates to internal documentation, Safety records and programs for adherence and improvement as needed. Analyze safety metrics and trends to support data-driven decision-making. Develop and manage location specific emergency response and disaster recovery plans Assist with the new locations, equipment installs, high-risk tasks or projects that are being performed or planned. Assist with the planning, documentation, and equipment to ensure safe work practices. Ensure proper safety equipment and PPE is being procured and utilized - investigate new and improved equipment/PPE as needed. Perform Equipment and Preventative Maintenance Audits to ensure compliance of inspections and proper maintenance requirements Training & Communication Design and deliver safety training programs, standardized onboarding and workshops across all locations. Communicate EHS initiatives, performance metrics, and risk assessments to senior leadership. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, third-party auditors, and external partners. Continuous Improvement & Sustainability Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve workplace health and safety. Benchmark against industry best practices and implement scalable improvements across sites. Participate in continuous learning initiatives for operational safety and environmental improvements. General & Administrative Maintain accurate EHS records, reports, and documentation. Prepare required regulatory filings and internal reports. Perform other related duties as assigned by executive leadership. Qualifications Education & Certifications High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred. Professional certification(s) such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent strongly preferred. Experience 3-7 years of progressive EHS experience, including 1-3 years in a leadership or multi-site role. Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance, audits, incident investigation, and risk management. Experience in manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, or distribution environments strongly preferred. Multi-site or national experience highly desirable. Technical Skills Strong working knowledge of OSHA, CAL-OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, and applicable state and local regulations. Experience with EHS management systems, reporting tools, and safety metrics. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS or safety systems a plus. Soft Skills & Competencies Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. High degree of integrity, professionalism, and accountability. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. Ability to conduct inspections in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to moderate noise levels and inclement weather. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and handling materials during site visits. Ability to travel up to 25% to various U.S. locations. Work Schedule Monday through Friday, primarily onsite when not traveling. Schedule may vary based on business needs. Flexibility to work weekends or alternate shifts as required to support safety and operational needs. General Expectations Adhere to all company policies and act as a role model for safety, ethics, and professionalism. Maintain punctuality, professional appearance, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives. Ability to work with management, employees, and regulatory bodies. Increase Hazard and Risk Awareness Decrease Safety Incidents and Near Misses.
