Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Safety and Training Supervisor to oversee driver training and safety compliance for our fleet operations. This position is based out of our Madera yard; however, regular travel is required, and time will be regularly spent working out of our main office in Stockton to support company-wide training and safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a Class A CDL holder with a tanker endorsement, experienced in training drivers on tanker operations, including food-grade and bulk wine. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting a culture of safety, and leading onboarding and continuous training programs. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is required to effectively communicate with our diverse workforce. Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and conduct training for drivers, focusing on Class A CDL tanker operations and safe handling of food-grade and wine liquids.
  • Lead Smith System defensive driving instruction, remedial training, and on-the-job coaching.
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation for new hires, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and
DOT/FMCSA
regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials.
  • Monitor and evaluate driver performance, providing coaching and corrective training when needed.
  • Collaborate with safety, HR, and operations teams to promote a strong safety-first culture.
  • Maintain accurate training records and reports using Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Stay current on industry regulations, company policies, and best practices in transportation safety.
  • Communicate effectively with English
  • and Spanish-speaking employees, ensuring training materials and safety expectations are clearly understood. Qualifications
  • Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.
  • Minimum 5 years of driver training experience with a proven record in safety and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of tanker hauling, preferably with food-grade and wine liquid transport.
  • Expertise in
DOT/FMCSA
regulations and compliance.
  • Proficiency with Smith System defensive driving training.
  • Experience onboarding, coaching, and mentoring drivers.
  • Skilled in developing SOPs, training materials, and remedial training programs.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Required.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
