Job Description
Position Summary:
The Risk Management and Training Coordinator is responsible for supporting a safe, compliant, and high-quality environment across all Central Coast YMCA branches and programs. This position oversees staff training, safety compliance, incident reporting, onboarding coordination, and risk management practices to ensure the YMCA provides exceptional experiences for members, staff, volunteers, and the community. The Risk Management and Training Coordinator works closely with branch leadership to implement policies, maintain certifications, support hiring and onboarding processes, and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Risk Management & Safety Coordinate and support YMCA risk management policies and procedures across all branches and program areas. Monitor compliance with YMCA standards, OSHA regulations, licensing requirements, and safety protocols. Conduct facility safety inspections and identify opportunities for improvement. Maintain incident and accident reporting systems and assist with follow-up investigations. Track and ensure completion of required certifications and compliance documentation. Assist in emergency preparedness planning and safety drills. Support workers' compensation and insurance documentation processes as needed. Promote a culture of safety and member well-being throughout the organization. Assist with implementation and monitoring of the YMCA's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP). Staff Training & Development Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new staff members. Schedule and facilitate required YMCA trainings, including: o Child Abuse Prevention o CPR/AED and First Aid o Safety and compliance trainings o Customer service standards o Risk management procedures o Workplace violence prevention and safety procedures Maintain accurate training records and certification tracking systems. Support leadership teams in identifying staff development opportunities. Assist with creating training materials, operational guides, and onboarding resources. Support annual compliance tracking and training follow-up processes. Hiring & Administrative Support Assist with hiring coordination including interview scheduling, onboarding paperwork, and background check tracking. Support branch leaders with compliance-related personnel documentation. Maintain organized employee training and compliance files. Assist with internal audits and accreditation preparation. Support documentation and recordkeeping related to safety and compliance initiatives. Collaboration & Leadership Work collaboratively with executive leadership and branch teams to ensure operational excellence. Serve as a resource for staff regarding safety procedures and training expectations. Help foster a positive, mission-driven workplace culture aligned with YMCA values. Support organization-wide consistency related to safety, onboarding, and compliance procedures.Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, Risk Management, Recreation, Education, or related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in training, risk management, human resources, or nonprofit operations preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Experience with staff training and compliance tracking systems preferred. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications preferred or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
