Job Description

Safety Manager Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to develop, implement, and oversee safety programs across our locations, including stores, warehouse operations, transportation, and administrative offices. This role is responsible for promoting a safe work environment for employees, customers, vendors, and visitors while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations. The Safety Manager will lead safety initiatives, conduct audits and inspections, support incident investigations, monitor safety performance, and help build a strong culture of safety throughout the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safety Program Development and Management Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs. Develop, review, and update standard operating procedures related to workplace safety. Create and manage safety programs for transportation, warehouse, store, and office environments. Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and recommend improvements as needed. Use safety reporting, incident trends, and data analysis to identify opportunities for improvement. Partner with department leaders to ensure appropriate resources are focused on key safety priorities. Training, Education, and Communication Coordinate, conduct, oversee, and document safety training programs. Conduct safety meetings and training sessions to educate employees on safe work practices. Promote compliance with company safety policies and procedures. Conduct EPJ and Forklift certifications and recertifications for operators Support safe work practices for drivers, warehouse employees, and administrative staff. Communicate safety updates, expectations, and best practices across the organization. Safety Audits, Inspections, and Performance Tracking Oversee and coordinate safety audits and inspections across company locations. Evaluate safety programs, procedures, and practices, and recommend corrective actions when needed. Track and report audit results, safety trends, and key performance metrics to senior management. Monitor workers' compensation and general liability incident trends. Partner with managers and department leaders to follow up on audit findings and corrective action plans. Support consistent safety audit scoring and expectations across locations. Incident Investigation and Risk Management Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, equipment failures, and near misses. Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Work with Operations and Human Resources to review safety violations and ensure appropriate follow-up. Identify potential safety risks and develop strategies to reduce workplace injuries and incidents. Regulatory Compliance and Government Interaction Ensure compliance with OSHA, FMCSA, and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Steer the Safety Committee Hold monthly safety committee meetings Serve as a point of contact for OSHA and other government agencies regarding safety and compliance matters. Maintain and file OSHA Logs and reports as necessary. Stay current on regulatory changes, industry best practices, and emerging safety technologies. Monitor safety trends and best practices through relevant industry organizations and provide updates as needed. Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan, prepare and lead emergency preparedness planning, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and crisis response protocols. Ensure locations are prepared to respond effectively to workplace emergencies. Equipment and Resource Management Oversee the proper selection, procurement, maintenance, and use of safety-related equipment and supplies. Ensure required safety equipment is available, maintained, and used appropriately. Collaboration and Leadership Collaborate with managers, department leaders, and safety representatives to address safety concerns and implement improvements. Promote a proactive safety culture across all company locations. Serve as a safety resource and subject matter expert for employees and leadership. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or five to ten years of safety management experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience developing and managing workplace safety programs required. Experience in warehouse, transportation and distribution. Knowledge of OSHA regulations required. Knowledge of FMCSA guidelines preferred. Preferred Certifications OSHA 30-Hour certification required. Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, or similar safety certification required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bilingual English/Spanish-Fluent required Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations, accident prevention, and risk management practices. Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret safety data and recommend improvements. Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with employees, managers, and senior leadership. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple locations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems preferred. Travel This position may require travel to company locations to conduct audits, inspections, training, and incident investigations.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
