Job Description

Horizon Oxygen and Medical Equipment, Inc. is seeking a Safety Manager who is proactive, knowledgeable, collaborative, and possesses the desire to "Be a Blessing!" The Safety Manager oversees company-wide safety programs to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA and other regulatory requirements. This role manages workplace, fleet, and branch safety initiatives, leads incident investigations and training, and promotes a proactive safety culture focused on prevention and continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Compliance & Program Management Ensure full compliance with Cal/OSHA, including Title 8 regulations. Maintain and continuously improve the company's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Emergency Preparedness Program. Manage and maintain all safety documentation and recordkeeping required by state and federal law. Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to verify regulatory compliance and hazard controls. Fleet Safety Develop and enforce safety protocols for all company drivers, including delivery and service personnel. Oversee driver safety training, DMV record monitoring, and corrective action programs. Collaborate with fleet operations to ensure vehicle safety inspections and regulatory compliance. Investigate all fleet-related incidents and implement corrective and preventive measures. Branch & Warehouse Safety Develop and enforce safety procedures across all branch and warehouse locations. Ensure safe storage, handling, and transportation of medical equipment and any applicable hazardous materials. Conduct safety inspections and ergonomic assessments of warehouse, office, and clinical environments. Support branch leadership in monthly safety meetings and training implementation. Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis Lead investigations of workplace accidents, near misses, and safety complaints. Perform root cause analyses and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions. Maintain OSHA-required logs (300, 300A, 301) and coordinate with HR and Workers' Compensation carriers. Monitor return-to-work procedures and support transitional duty programs. Training & Culture Development Develop, deliver, or coordinate safety training programs for new hires and existing employees. Promote a proactive safety culture across all departments and levels of the organization. Mentor managers and supervisors on safety responsibilities, regulatory changes, and incident prevention. Safety Metrics & Reporting Track, analyze, and report key safety performance indicators (e.g., TRIR, DART rate, training completion). Present findings and recommendations to senior management and participate in strategic safety planning. Support internal and external reporting obligations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety (or a related field) Minimum 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in warehousing, logistics, or healthcare-related industries. Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain IIPP, Emergency Preparedness, and Fleet Safety programs. Demonstrated experience conducting and interpreting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments. Cal/OSHA training and familiarity with Title 8 safety regulations required. Effective communicator able to mentor at all organizational levels. Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, or OHST) a plus. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
