Job Description

Scope of Work:
Actively support the company's safety commitment. Assist in the administration of project safety to maintain safe and healthy work environment. Oversee the constructor's HSE program on site. Conduct regular site walk downs to ensure that all activities are being performed as per the site HSE instructions. Assist in identifying, documenting, and recommending solutions to hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions and provide follow up to ensure that conditions have been corrected. Assist in the investigations of personnel injury, property damage, or near missed incidents. Compile data, photographs and prepare all pertinent forms and reports in accordance with program procedures. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations related to accidents and near misses. Travel to California is necessary to support coaching, training, and other related duties. Work with contract partner safety professionals to identify safety related issues and to design solutions to mitigate exposure to those risks. Review contracts and visit project sites to determine safety and environmental requirements and related risks. Work with contract partners and operations staff to establish a work culture that places a high value on safety of all team members. Use Permit requirements are communicated and followed. Gather information from contract partners and summarize reports on all safety incidents. Analyze safety data, indices and key performance indicators to prepare recommendations for improvements. Work with contract partners to ensure accurate timely information is distributed to project personnel in a timely manner. Work with contract partners to ensure relevant safety and environmental topics are discussed in safety meetings. Provide reports and recommendations for improving site safety to Project Leadership Safety Committee. Cultivate and maintain partnerships and liaison with contract and industry partners to determine and implement improvements in project safety programs. Frequently visit construction areas to assess work conditions and construction practices to identify practices to reduce safety risks. Work with contract partners to continually improve safety and environmental performance. Conduct frequent safety and inspections and audits to ensure safety partner safety programs comply with governmental regulations. Provide strategic direction and work with contract partners to ensure timely resolution of all safety and environmental issues. Work with contract partners to implement and manage behavior-based safety program. Qualifications Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures. Thorough understanding of federal, state and company regulations as it relates to HSE. Good interpersonal and communication skills required. A bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or a related field or significant equivalent work experience with an associates degree. Additional safety certifications, such as Certified Safety Director (CSD), Master Safety Professional (MSP) or equivalent are preferred. Addition health certifications such first responder and EMT are also preferred. A minimum of 10 years professional experience and 5 years leadership experience. Engaged leader with technical and field leadership experience in managing construction safety programs. Extensive knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards. Able to build, motivate and inspire effective teams and leverage team diversity.
