$145,000 - $170,000 annually + bonus eligible A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Director to lead and execute company-wide safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance initiatives across multiple operations. This individual will serve as a strategic leader responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering closely with operations leadership to reduce risk and improve overall HSE performance. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on HSE professional with strong regulatory knowledge and experience supporting manufacturing or food processing environments. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute the organization's Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) strategy. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, county, and local regulations. Manage regulatory reporting, permitting, OSHA logs, workers' compensation reporting, and internal case tracking. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and environmental permitting authorities during inspections, reporting, and incident investigations. Lead company-wide safety culture initiatives focused on employee engagement, accountability, and hazard awareness. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE training programs and policies. Conduct safety audits, job-site inspections, facility walkthroughs, and workplace hazard assessments. Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to proactively identify and mitigate workplace risks. Lead investigations involving injuries, near misses, environmental incidents, and property damage, including corrective and preventative action planning. Analyze safety performance trends and prepare reports for executive leadership. Support contractor safety onboarding, compliance verification, and subcontractor prequalification efforts. Provide strategic HSE guidance to senior leadership teams and support acquisition-related HSE activities. Travel locally between facilities and periodically as needed (25%-50%). Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience managing corporate HSE programs within manufacturing, industrial, or food processing environments. Strong experience working with OSHA, EPA, and federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Proven ability to lead safety culture initiatives and influence operational teams. Experience conducting investigations, audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance management. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present effectively to leadership teams and employees. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software applications. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Preferred Experience Protein, meat processing, or food manufacturing industry experience preferred. Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations strongly preferred.
