Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Range Safety Officer, a vital role dedicated to ensuring the safety, compliance, and smooth operation of shooting ranges and firearm activities. In this position, you will oversee all safety protocols, enforce regulations, and provide expert guidance to both staff and visitors. Your proactive approach will help create a secure environment where responsible firearm handling and adherence to safety standards are prioritized. MUST HAVE A A VALID CONNECTICUTT PISTOL PERMIT AND SHOW PROFICIENCY WITH FIREARMS.
Responsibilities Monitor and enforce all safety procedures in accordance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and other relevant regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections of the range, equipment, and surrounding areas to identify hazards and ensure compliance with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) guidelines. Provide comprehensive safety briefings and instructions to range users, emphasizing proper firearm handling, storage, and disposal practices. Respond promptly to emergencies by administering first aid or CPR as needed, assessing vital signs, and coordinating with emergency services when necessary. Maintain detailed records of safety checks, incidents, and compliance reports to support ongoing safety management efforts. Communicate effectively with staff, visitors, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies to promote a culture of safety awareness. Ensure all personnel are trained on relevant policies including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) privacy requirements when handling sensitive information. Experience Proven experience in range safety operations or a related field involving firearms management or security. Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to workplace safety and compliance management practices. Certification in CPR, First Aid, including the ability to assess vital signs accurately. Familiarity with EPA environmental standards applicable to shooting ranges or similar facilities. Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey safety procedures and expectations. Experience in emergency response procedures including first aid administration and incident reporting. Prior exposure to HIPAA guidelines is a plus for handling sensitive health or personal information responsibly.
